Maryborough & Fresh Air 2022

“Tropical Cyclone Tiffany has brought heavy rainfall and flash flooding to large parts of Queensland over the past week. The Mary River in Maryborough reached flood levels of 10m, breaking the flood levy and devastating the town.

Global Care’s response to this disaster will be to provide essential resources to the Maryborough community, clear mud, remove rubbish and debris, and clean homes and shops. Our volunteers will endeavour to connect victims with the appropriate resources and services, provide emotional and psychological support to those struggling, and instil hope in the community. They raised over $1000 to resource their disaster response unit with non-perishable food items, toilet paper, and clean water. They also purchased essential safety equipment such as gumboots, gloves, and glasses, to protect their volunteers.

Global Care, led by the local contact Pastor Tim Winnington of Victory Church Maryborough, partnered with Victory Care Services Maryborough (the community services ministry of @victory.maryborough), the local council, and other teams on the ground in Maryborough. They deployed a response team and two disaster response vehicles filled with food, toilet paper, supplies and equipment to assist in the clean-up efforts.”
